    Homeowner guides

Know your pipes before they surprise you.

Short, honest answers to the questions every homeowner asks, no jargon, no upsell.

Where is my main shut-off, and why care?

The main shut-off is the difference between a puddle and a flood. It usually lives where the water line enters the home, basement wall, crawlspace, garage or near the meter.

Find it on a calm day, turn it gently once a year so it does not seize, and make sure everyone in the house knows it. Emergencies are a terrible time for a scavenger hunt.

Why is my water bill creeping up?

Silent leaks, mostly. A flapper bleeding in a toilet, a drip in a wall, an irrigation zone that never quite closes. The meter tells the truth, with everything off, it should stand still.

If it moves, something is drinking on your ticket, finding it early keeps the fix small and the drywall dry.

What should never go down the drain?

Grease is the kitchen villain, it leaves the pan as liquid and becomes wax inside your pipes. Wipes, even the ones labeled flushable, braid themselves into rope in sewers.

Coffee grounds, paint and litter round out the usual suspects. Drains forgive a lot, but they keep a ledger, and it always comes due.

    Questions, answered

Is the 24/7 line really 24/7?+
Yes, a person from our team, not an answering service. At 3am you'll get first-aid steps for your exact situation on the phone (shut-off, breaker, what to move), and a truck if it can't wait for morning.
Do you charge just to come out?+
Daytime visits with a quote are free. After 10pm there's one posted call-out fee, and we waive it completely if you have us do the repair. No hourly meters, ever.
Can I just use a chemical drain cleaner?+
Please don't, it rarely clears the real blockage and it eats older pipes and traps from the inside. A proper machine clearing is a posted flat price and actually removes what's in there.
How fast can you get here?+
Emergencies: about 45 minutes on average across the metro. Standard repairs: usually same or next day. You get a real time window and a text when we're on the way, not a "sometime Thursday".
    What's covered by your warranty?+
Two years on our workmanship, in writing, honored without a debate, plus the manufacturer's warranty on parts and fixtures. If something we fixed drips again, the return visit is free.
Do I need permits for a water heater or repipe?+
In Salem, usually yes, and unpermitted work bites you at resale or with insurance. We pull the permit, meet the inspector and hand you the paperwork. It's included in the flat price.
How do I stop pipes freezing in a Salem cold snap?+
Drip the farthest faucet, open cabinet doors on exterior walls, and disconnect garden hoses before the first hard freeze.

Dripping, blocked or freezing cold? We're up.

Book online in under a minute, or call and get a real plumber on the line right now, 24 hours a day, flat prices always.
